Abstract :

The methodological approach used was observation and experimentation, aimed at contributing to the domestication of the local species T. madagascariense. The study was conducted in the city-province of Kinshasa, specifically at the Laboratory of Systemics, Biodiversity, Nature Conservation, and Indigenous Knowledge of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Kinshasa, in the commune of Lemba. The results show that T. madagascariense DC exhibits hypogeal germination. The weight of each seed ranges from 1.77 to 1.86 g, with a total weight of 109.86 g for 60 seeds. The overall germination rate across all treatments was 46.66%. The seeds in treatments T0 (70%), T3 (60%), and T1 (50%) showed the highest percentages. Germination duration varied between 21 and 27 days... After 10 months, the mean height growth was 45.04 ± 14.67 cm, while the mean stem diameter growth was 0.84 ± 0.19 cm.
