Abstract :

The chemistry of a peatland is largely determined by that of its water, which accounts for the majority of it.. This study aims to assess water chemistry in the peatlands of the Era Congo concession by analyzing variations in physico-chemical parameters. Sampling was carried in the peatlands of the Era Congo concession, measuring indicators such as pH, conductivity, turbidity and temperature. The results show that the water is acidic, with an average pH of 4.3 ± 0.6, a low conductivity of 11.7 ± 1.1 μS/cm, an average temperature of 26.5 ± 0.5°C and a turbidity of 2.9 ± 0.3 NTU. Blackish coloration was observed, averaging 459 ± 29.5 Pt-Co. Significant correlations were identified between conductivity and dissolved solids, as well as between coloration and turbidity. These results provide an essential database for understanding peatland environmental conditions and their impact on the local ecosystem.
