Abstract :
In a context marked by structural disparities between public and private hospitals in Likasi, this study explores the strategic role of the Hospital Administrator Manager (AG) in fostering innovation and hospital development. A comparative analysis was conducted across six hospitals within three health zones using a mixed-methods approach combining thematic analysis, performance score evaluation, and Chi-square test (p < 0.05) to determine significant associations. Findings indicate a strong correlation between the presence of AGs and higher organizational performance, care quality, managerial innovation, and infrastructure development. Public hospitals, which more frequently employ AGs, perform significantly better. The AG emerges as a key strategic player, whose absence especially in private and faith-based facilities—limits efficiency and hospital progress. These results align with previous findings across African and European contexts.
