Abstract :
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global public health challenge, with 10.8 million cases and 1.25 million deaths reported in 2023. Since declaring TB a global public health emergency in 1993, the World Health Organization (WHO) has implemented successive control strategies, including DOTS, the stop TB strategy, and the End TB strategy. Each country is expected to adapt these frameworks to its specific context. This narrative review analyzes how the DRC, a high TB and HIV burden country, has adapted Who TB control strategies overtime. A documentary review of WHO reports, national TB progam documents, and scientific literature was conducted. Findings show that DRC progressively integrated who strategies into its national tuberculosis control program despite prolonged insecurity, limited domestic funding, and health system weaknesses. However, significant gaps remain, particularly regarding sustainable financing, laboratory capacity, and the discrepancy between estimated and notified incidence. Strengthening political commitment, domestic resource mobilization, and community-based approaches is essential for accelerating progress toward End TB target in the DRC.
