Abstract :
This article consists of a petrographic study of the Kwilu limestone in the Lukala subgroup mined at Songololo by the Cimenterie Kongo (CIMKO). From a macroscopic point of view, 22 boreholes were described and divided into three lithofacies. Analysis of the samples brought back to the laboratory showed micrite diagenesis, transforming into microsparite and sparite. The interest of this study lies on the petrographic study of the different types of lithofacies in the mined limestone and their classification in the local stratigraphic scale. Three lithofacies types were identified: light grey, greenish grey and dark grey, classified within the Bulu and Luanza formations of the Kwilu unit.
