Abstract :

Pneumonia is one of the leading causes of death in children under five and, a major cause of infant mortality in all regions of the world, most deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The main agent with the highest prevalence in severe pneumonia is, as the name suggests the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae. The general objective of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the decoction of the leaves of Mitragyna stipulosa on the bacterium S. pneumoniae by the antibiogram test, to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration and, to compare the antibacterial effect of the decoction compared to infusion and maceration, as well as the reference antibiotic used. This work is part of the promotion and enhancement of the African pharmacopoeia in general and the Congolese pharmacopoeia in particular, to overcome a proven and significant public health problem.

Abstract :

The reduction in vaccination rates currently reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) risks exposing children to deadly diseases. Therefore, this study aims to identify the determinants of non-vaccination and complete non-vaccination of children aged 0-11 months in the Kabimba-Uvira health area. This is a cross-sectional study with an analytical aim carried out in the Uvira health zone, specifically in the Kabimba health area. Our study population was 476 women with a child aged 0-11 months, from whom a stratified probability sample of 213 mothers was drawn. Data collection was done using a self-administered questionnaire, and data analysis was carried out using SPSS 25 software. The study demonstrated that the determinants of non-vaccination of children aged 0-11 months were: the environment of residence (long distance between the environment and the health structure); gender and lack of knowledge about the benefits of vaccination. Regarding the determinants of complete non-vaccination, unfavorable opinions (or lack of support) of children's fathers regarding vaccination were identified. Mass vaccination campaigns (door to door) remain a strategy and a priority in the environment of our study. In addition, raising awareness among parents about the benefits of vaccination cannot be ruled out

Abstract :

Fish caught in contaminated environments constitute a health hazard for consumers, since fish, like other fishery products, are capable of transmitting microbial and parasitic infections to humans. The aim of this study was to identify the parasites present in the fish Distichodus maculatus Boulenger, 1898 and Schilbe grenfelli Boulenger, 1900 caught in the Malebo Pool (Congo River). The analyses focused on microscopic observations of samples of Congo River water and D. maculatus and S. grenfelli fish. The results show that the Congo River water and the digestive tracts and gills of D. maculatus and S. grenfelli fish are infested with four species of parasites (Strongyloides stercoralis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Entamoeba coli and Trichurus trichiura). Of the parasite species identified, A. lumbricoides (15 positive cases), E. coli (5 positive cases) and S. stercoralis (3 positive cases) were the most frequently observed in the gills and digestive tracts of D. maculatus and S. grenfelli fish. In order to reduce the parasite load and reduce the risk of infestation for humans and aquatic ecosystems, the political and administrative authorities are called upon to take appropriate measures to limit the pressure on aquatic ecosystems and their resources, including fish. Cooking fresh fish thoroughly before eating is the best way to avoid parasites.

Abstract :

Surgery and neonatology rooms must be free of all biotamination. The presence of pathogenic bacteria in the environment of these rooms could lead to infection of patients, resulting in an increase of morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to detect the presence of pathogenic resistant bacteria to antibiotics in the surgery and neonatology rooms of the Ngaliema Clinic and the King Beaudoin I Hospital of Masina. Indoor air of the rooms, the swab of the surfaces of the incubators, operating beds and the handles of the doors as well as the nurses' coats were analyzed. Bacteria were identified by standard bacteriology methods and antibiotic sensitivity was performed by the Müller Hinton agar medium diffusion method. 21 swabs and 34 air samples were collected. 63 strains of bacterial were isolated among them 30 at the Ngaliema clinic and 33 at the King Beaudoin I Hospital. The isolated bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus (34.9%), Staphylococcus spp (30.2%), Bacillus spp (12.7%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (9.5%), Pseudomonas spp (7.90%), Klebsiella ozaenae (1.6%), Providencia alcalifaciens (1.6%) and Acinetobacter spp (1.6%). 52.2% of strains were multi-resistant to the majority of antibiotics tested. The results of the present study showed that multi-resistant bacteria are circulating in the neonatology and surgery rooms of these hospitals. Infection prevention and control measures should be considered.

Abstract :

Human development is of interest to a number of disciplines that seek to understand human behavior. Among these is psychology. To better understand human behavior from birth to death, authors have developed theories to explain it by establishing causal links between its constituent elements. These include the mechanistic, organistic, psychoanalytic, humanistic and life-entire approaches. The law, which governs man's conduct in society and social relations, is called upon to resolve complex cases, the discretion of which is left to the jurist. In an interdisciplinary approach, the present study has argued that there are bridges of interpenetration between psychology and law. It has also shown that the psychoanalytical theory of human behavior can certainly be used to humanize the law in the following cases: assessment of facts, qualification of facts, application of the rule of equity (ex aequo & bono), determination of certain abstract notions such as the notion of 'greater benefit to children', determination of the moral element of an offence, determination of the sentence imposed, as well as the drafting of laws and other legal texts.

Abstract :

ONATRA SA's ability to adapt to the demands of globalization should be demonstrated by a transformation of its business model, with the development of financial, river and lake transport services to compensate for the decline in income from the river transport business in DR-Congo, which is not the case. To this end, as a researcher, we recommend that the managerial deficits in this public enterprise be remedied. To ensure that ONATRA SA's goals are met, and as the reform would require, the dynamic microenvironment of this company on the verge of bankruptcy and the opening up of its capital would have to be mastered. The latter would enable ONATRA SA to withstand an unfavorable economic climate, consolidate its financial structure, perpetuate its services, be competitive and create jobs to combat selective poverty.
