Abstract :
In the context of the digital transformation of higher education institutions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the secure and efficient management of academic data is a major challenge. This study analyzes bare metal systems as an alternative to traditional cloud solutions, which are often limited by constraints related to sovereignty, connectivity, and cost. Using a mixed- methods approach combining literature review and a case study applied to the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Mbanza-Ngungu, a hosting architecture based on dedicated physical servers is proposed. The results show that this solution improves the security, performance, and control of academic data. A modular, layered architecture (system, data, application, access) is presented and illustrated by a use case scenario. The study opens up possibilities for a hybrid model integrating the cloud for non-critical services.
