Abstract :
Food consumption and diversity are key indicators of nutritional health, particularly in regions with unequal access to food resources. Globally, malnutrition remains a major problem affecting the growth of children and contributing to millions of premature deaths. Several studies show disparities related to variables such as income, gender and access to food. The study aims to evaluate the scores of consumptions and food diversity in the health area of Rwangoma in the Beni Health Zone. This was a nutritional survey conducted among 370 heads of households. Data were collected using a maintenance guide with weekly food reminders and monitoring of the survey and then analyzed to assess consumption and dietary diversity scores. The overall food consumption score was high (55.48), well above acceptable thresholds, with a strong dependence on purchases for major food categories. The average food diversity (SDAM of 6.93) reflects a more frequent consumption of certain food groups, such as cereals and vegetables, to the detriment of fruits, meat and products dairy. The results show satisfactory food intake but limited diversity in some key groups. These observations call for targeted interventions to strengthen food access and diversity in the region.
